About Port Charlotte:
Port Charlotte is a conservation area and the village is a key example of an early nineteenth century planned settlement.
Today the village offers many amenities : you can fish or go boating on pier, visit the Museum of Islay Life and the Natural History Centre, and eat out at the Croft Kitchen or The Port Charlotte and Lochindaal Hotels.
Some information about activities on Islay:
Activities available include golfing at the Machrie Hotel, Pony Trekking, Sea and Loch Fishing, visits to distilleries, Finlaggan (former Home of the Lord of the Isles) and Guided Tours given by the RSPB at the Griunart Reserve.
Of particular note are The Annual Whisky Festival which takes place at end of May/early June and Cantilena Music Festival (first week of July), Walking Tours and so on.
